Lung Cancer, Types, Diagnosis, Prevention, Treatment

The lungs have two main functions, namely the spread of oxygen into the blood when inhale exhale carbon dioxide and discard when sigh. Lung cancer is one of the most common types of cancer occurring. Lung cancer that comes from the spread of cancer to other so-called secondary lung cancer. On this page, the type of cancer that were discussed were the primary lung cancer, i.e. originating from the lung itself.
Lung Cancer, Types, Diagnosis, Prevention, Treatment

Lung cancer is a disease with the presence of uncontrolled cell growth in tissues of the lung. If not treated, the growth of these cells can spread outside of the lung through a process called metastasis to the nearest network or other parts of the body. Most cancers that begin in the lungs, known as the primary lung cancer is carcinoma originating from the epithelial cells.

There are two types of primary lung cancer based on the type of cell, namely lung cancer small cell (small-cell lung cancer/SCLC) lung cancer and non-small cell (non-small-cell lung cancer NSCLC/).
  • Lung cancer-non-small cell a chance four times more frequent in comparison with lung cancer small cell.
  • Lung cancer small cell (SCLC) usually only afflicts the heavy smoker and its spreadfaster compared to cancer lung non-small cell (NSCLC).
Signs and symptoms that indicate the presence of lung cancer are:
  • symptoms in the respiratory tract: coughing, coughing blood, short of breath or bengek
  • systemic symptoms: weight loss, fevera club down on the finger nail, or fatigue
  • symptoms due to pressure in the local area: chest pain, bone pain, obstruction of the superior vena cava, difficulty swallowing
A few checks that can be performed to detect lung cancer include: X-ray. Rongsen photo or x-ray of the chest (lung) can be used to notice any abnormal masses (tumors) or nodules.
  • A CT-Scan. A CT scan will be more detailed than rongsen, because he can depict small lesions in the lungs that may not be detected on x-ray.
  • Sputum cytology. This inspection is aimed at someone who experienced coughingphlegm so, with a look of phlegm under a microscope can sometimes reveal the presence of cancer cells in the lungs.
  • Tissue samples (biopsy). These biopsies will be taken of a number of networks that have been suspected of abnormal based on inspection results above, then the network obtained will be performed in the laboratory of Pathology anotomi (PA) to ensure there is a malignant cancer or benign tumours only.
There is no sure way to prevent lung cancer, but you can reduce your risk if you:
  • Not smoking
  • Stop smoking
  • Avoid cigarette smoke
  • Use protective gear when working
  • Eat nutritious foods, especially fruits and vegetables
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Exercise
